In 2008, Rheinmetall Defence developed an unmanned surface vehicle based on the Watercat M8 fast attack boat made by Marine Alutech Oy Ab of Finland The vessel was built on a 1.3M Euro research and development contract awarded by Germany's Federal Office for Defence Technology and Procurement for the German Navy.
